The Huntington North High School girls’ varsity cross country team captured third place at the New Haven Classic on Saturday, Sept. 26.
A top 10 finish by Hannah Stoffel helped the Lady Vikings to their bronze placement. The senior crossed the finish line in 19:18.29, good for eighth.
Running a personal-record 19:50.67, senior Marissa Jamison slotted in the top 20, taking 15th among team runners. Sophomore Chloe Scheiber claimed 21st, posting a season-best 20:08.50. Freshman Alena Miller also achieved a PR, stopping the timer in 20:24.15 for 28th. Junior Cadee Harmon rounded out Huntington North’s scoring, earning 30th in 20:31.21, a season best.
Freshman Kyler Hoopingarner stepped over the end stripe in a PR 21:42.91, attaining 49th. Junior Jenna Henline secured 55th in 22:02.67, completing the Lady Vikings’ top seven.
Homestead won the race with a register of 62. The Lady Spartans were led by top overall finisher Grace Walther, who clocked in at 18:04.78.
Bloomington South was runner-up with a tally of 68, followed by Huntington North, 102; DeKalb, 104; East Noble, 107; Bishop Dwenger, 180; Concord, 199; Bellmont, 200; Goshen, 228; and North Side, 279.
