Leo ends Lady Vike spikers' win string

Host Leo slowed the high-flying Huntington North High School varsity volleyball team with a 3-0 sweep on Thursday, Oct. 1.

Leo won the tight contest, 22-25, 20-25 and 22-25 to put the brakes to the Lady Vikings' nine-match win string. HNHS is now 20-6 on the season, 4-1 in the Northeast 8 Conference.

Allyson Mettler had 11 kills and Alexa Hill had 20 assists to pace the HNHS offense. Ariene Butler had 13 digs to lead the defense.

The Lady Vikings' junior varsity also lost, by a 1-2 score. The Lady Vikings dropped the first game, 18-25, won the second, 25-19, but get edged, 13-15, in the third game.

Peyton Butler led the offense with four aces and 16 aces. Rileigh Johnson had six kills.

Johnson, Johanna Dohrman and Katie Jamison each had four digs to lead the defense.

The HNHS frosh also lost, 1-2.

Izzy Kryder had 13 assists on the night and Jordin Crail had three aces.

Emma Hollman, Lydia Riggers and Macy Wohlford each had four digs.
