Sophomore Karmen Koch scored a pair of goals and assisted on the other two scores to lead the Huntington North High School girls' varsity soccer team over Columbia City, 4-0, on Tuesday, Oct. 6, and into the Homestead sectional championship game on Thursday, Oct. 8.

The Lady Vikings, 11-5-1, on the season, will face the host school at 5:30 p.m. Homestead advanced by defeating Fort Wayne Concordia, 3-1, on Tuesday.

Freshman Amaya Sunderman and sophomore Hannah Tillett were the beneficiaries of Koch's passing for the other two HNHS goals.

The Lady Vikes tallied three goals in the opening half and added an insurance tally in the second, and freshman goalie Phelicia Shomo and the HNHS defense more than made that stand up. Shomo only faced one shot on net the entire game, and made that save.

Columbia City finishes at 2-9 on the season.

Homestead is 8-9-1 on the season, and topped Huntington North, 4-1, on Sept. 15.

Koch now has a team-leading 18 goals on the season despite missing the last part of the campaign with an injury.
