HU netwomen race past USF in Crossroads League tourney

Only the rain held up the Huntington University women's tennis team as it streaked past visiting Saint Francis, 9-0, on Tuesday afternoon, Oct. 6, in the quarterfinals of the Crossroads League Tournament.

A short rain delay was almost more of a hold-up for the third-seeded Foresters as they recorded their fifth sweep of the season on the way to improving to 10-2 on the season. USF could win no more than five games in any match.

In singles, Constance Golz ran past Teaghan Dishman at No. 1, 6-1, 6-1; Morgan Bemisderfer at second singles slapped Grace Heise, 6-0, 6-1; Celine Rongos at third singles crushed Hannah Haas, 6-1, 6-1; Haley Kuppler at fourth beat down Kaylin Gibson, 6-2, 6-3; Alexis Allen at fifth defeated Courntey Wittle, 6-2, 6-3; and Anastasiia Evstifeeva at sixth handled Rebecca Faber, 6-1, 6-1.

Bemisderfer and Rongos at first doubles topped Dishman and Gibson, 8-4. Golz and Kuppler at second doubles torched Haas and Shelby Richardson, 8-1, and Allen and Evstifeeva at third doubles downed Heise and Wittle, 8-4.
