Otters participate in Winter Classic at Fort Wayne

The Huntington-Wells Otters swim team participated in the Fort Wayne Aquatics Winter Classic at the Helen P. Brown Natatorium at South Side High School on Jan. 22-24.

Logan Brink led the Otters in competition, and was the only Otter to have a second-place finish. Brink took the silver in the 100-yard butterfly in 1:01.20, third in the 100-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100-yard backstroke, all in the 15 & over female division.

Joe Alleman took 12th place in the 25-yard butterfly in the 8 & under male class.

In the 9-10-year-old male division, Corbin Cozad took seventh place in the 50-yard butterfly.

In the same division, Cozad and Walter Copeland teamed up with two teammates from the Otter's PRO partnership with Penn and Wawasee to take fourth in both the 200-yard freestyle relay and 200-yard medley relay.
In the 11-12-year-old male division, Logan Ackley took eighth place in the 50-yard butterfly, 10th in the 200-yard individual medley and 11th in the 200-yard freestyle.

Walter Hacker took fifth in the 50-yard butterfly, seventh in the 100-yard backstroke, 12th in the 200-yard freestyle and 16th in the 500-yard freestyle.

Duke Wang took the bronze in both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100-yard butterfly, fourth in the 50-yard butterfly and the 100-yard backstroke, fifth in the 200-yard freestyle and sixth in the 500-yard freestyle.
Wang and three other PRO teammates took fifth in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Wang, Hacker, Logan Ackley and a PRO teammate took third in the 200-yard medley relay.

Cole Ackley took 10th in the 100-yard breaststroke in the 13-14-year old male division. He also combined with three PRO teammates to hit fifth place in the 200-yard medley relay.
And rounding out the 15 & over female division, Cassie Hacker took fifth in the 100-yard breaststoke, seventh in the 50-yard freestyle and 10th in the 200-yard freestyle.

Erin Hipskind took 12th in the 200-yard breaststroke and 14th in the 100-yard freestyle.

In the same division, Cassy Lange and three PRO teammates took third in the 200-yard freestyle relay.

The Otters' next meet is the Three Rivers Aquatics Club's Polar Bear Plunge on Feb. 13-14 at South Side High School.
