Lady Viking netgirls sweep DeKalb

Visiting DeKalb was just what the doctor ordered for the struggling Huntington North High School girls' varsity tennis team as the Lady Vikings swept the match, 5-0, on Thursday, May 5.

The second doubles team of Olivia Bowman and Leann Ringenberg was pushed to three sets, but the other four matches were pretty much run-throughs for the Lady Vikings, 3-9 on the season.

Kassidy Thompson at first singles topped Bethany Lancaster, 6-4, 6-1, and Katie Hunt at second singles took a 6-1, 6-1 win over Marianna Crowl. Jessica Henline at third singles used that same score to beat Lexi Smith.

Sarah Fryman and Emily Karst at first doubles also won, 6-1, 6-1, over Hannah McAfee and Jill Kuhn.

HNHS also won six of eight junior varsity matches to improved to 11-1 on the season.

Singles winners for HNHS were Alyssa Hewson, Tarah Zumbrun and Emily Bokel, while doubles wins came from the teams of Braxtyn Moroney and Anna Schroeder, Haley Hart and Anna Doctor and Macy Wohlford and Crosley Stanley.
