Senior Hannah Stoffel punched a pair of tickets to the state meet and sophomore Karmen Koch also got one at the Marion Girls' Track Regional on Tuesday, May 24.

Stoffel, who was all-state last year in the 1,600-meter run with a fourth place finish at the state meet, gets to try that event again as she finished in the third and final qualifying spot at regional, with a clocking of 4:54.88. And, for good measure, she will add the 3,200-meter run to her state resume as she became regional champ in that event with a clocking of 10:46.53, beating the second place runner by more than eight seconds.

Koch, who earned an at-large berth to state last year in high jump, this year won't have to see if she has qualified as she placed a solid second, leaping 5-3 to tie for best jump, but settling second due to misses.

Stoffel was more than 10 seconds faster this year in the 1,600 than she was at last year's meet, when she won the event. Grace Walter, of Homestead, won the race this year in 4:53.9, with Josey Korte, of Angola, in second.

There was no stopping the HNHS senior in the 3,200 as she easily handled the field. Tyler Schwartz, of DeKalb, was second in 10:54.65.
Lady Vike teammate Marissa Jamison earned eighth place points in the event, crossing the finish line in 11:33.09.

The state meet will be held Friday, June 3, at Indiana University.

Koch also placed fifth in the 300-meter hurdles, clocking in at :47.15.

Freshmen Brooke Goodrich and Amaya Sunderman earned seventh place points for HNHS, which finished fifth in the team chase with 35 points. Goodrich ran to a 1:00.69 finish in the 400-meter dash, and Sunderman threw the shot put 34-10.25 for her finish.

Sophomore Amaya Torres took eighth in the discus with a heave of 106-00. Also placing eighth was the 3,200-meter relay team of Kyler Hoopingarner, Amara Eckert, Cadee Harmon and Alena Miller, which came home in 10:17.58.
