State wrestling title dreams end for Randle and Cooper in first round

The dream ended for two Huntington North High School wrestlers in close matches in the first round of the Indiana State Wrestling Finals on Friday, Feb. 19.

Logan Randle at 112 pounds, the Woodlan semi-state champ, got edged by sophomore Mason Todd of Pendleton Heights, 4-3.

Nick Cooper at 285 pounds lost to Evansville semi-state champion Tyler Daughtery, a senior from Castle, in a 5-2 decision.

Randle, a senior, finished his season at 41-2. Cooper, a junior, ends his campaign at 27-8.

Todd, 43-3, will face Paul Beck of Mishawaka, 45-1, in the second round later today, Saturday, Feb. 20.

Daughtery willl be paired against Travis Thomas, 41-3, of Mishawaka, in his second round match at 285.

Undefeated heavyweights James Travis, of Merrillville, and Ross Janney, of Yorktown, are also still in the competition at 285. Travis is 42-0 after pinning Ben Jackson of Milan, and Janney is 49-0 after a 3-0 win over Kaden Suter of Martinsville.
