Pair of twin-winners not enough for HNHS swimgirls in loss

Senior Emma Helmich and freshman Allie Aschliman each won a pair of races but it wasn't enough as the Huntington North High School girls' swim team fell to visiting East Noble, 96-74, on Tuesday, Nov. 29.

Helmich was stop step in the 200-yard individual medley, in 2:29.07, and the 100-yard freestyle, in 1:00.64, and Aschliman won the 100-yard butterfly, in 1:06.33, and the 100-yard backstroke, in 1:10.50, but the Lady Vikings still fell to 2-1 on the season.

The Lady Vikings could only add to that with five runner-up spots, three by relay teams.

Freshman Laney Shaw was second in the 50-yard freestyle, in :29.26 and senior Emma Gordon was second in the 500-yard freestyle, in 6:36.31. The pair teamed with Helmich and Aschliman for runner-up in the 400-yard freestyle relay, in 4:14.09. Helmich, Gabby Line, Aschliman and Shaw were second in the 200-yard medley relay, in 2:08.82, and the quartet of Alayna Stroup, Alyssa Brinkman, Gordon and Alivia Eiting were second in the 200-yard freestyle relay, in 2:02.84.

Gordon added to her evening with a third in the 200-yard freestyle, in 2:23.51, Shaw took third in the 100 fly, in 1:24.77, Eiting was the bronze finisher in the 500 free, in 6:36.61 and Line was third in the 100-yard breaststroke, in 1:25.72.
