Poor shooting night dooms Foresters against 17th-ranked Pilots

The Huntington University men's basketball team picked the wrong time to have its worst shooting night of the season as it fell to host 17th-ranked Bethel, 86-64, on Tuesday, Nov. 29.

The Foresters, 6-4, went into the game shooting better than 53 percent on the season, the second highest percentage in NAIA Division II, but a 25 of 61 effort for 41 percent against Bethel was not what the doctor ordered. Bethel, 8-2, took a 46-31 lead after the first half of play and expanded the margin by another seven points by game's end.

Daniel Woll led HU with 17 points. Tyler Arens added 13 points and Konner Platt pumped in 12 points.

Trey'von Covington came off the bench for Bethel to score a game-high 19 points. Caleb Oetjen added 18 points while Gage Ott and Jordyn Coon each chipped in 13.

The Pilots hit 31 of 63 shots from the field for 49.2 percent, including an 8 of 20 performance from behind the arc for 40 percent. They added 16 successes on 20 free throws for 80 percent.

HU hit only 7 of 29 from beyond the arc for 24.1 percent.

Woll had a game-high 11 rebounds and added three assists and three steals.

Mike Bush led HU with four assists.

Bethel won the battle of the boards, 41-30. Coon had 10 rebounds for Bethel.
