Hall leads grapplers to third at Wild Bill Tournament

Led by Jacob Hall, the Huntington North High School varsity wrestling team captured third place at the Wild Bill Tournament, held at Concordia Lutheran on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Hall, a junior, topped the 126-pound weight class, giving the Vikings their lone individual title on the day.

Seniors Wilson Lopshire and Eli Parrett both put forth runner-up efforts for Huntington North. Lopshire placed second at 170 pounds while Parrett earned silver in action at 182 pounds.

Gavin Rosen, Ricky Haught and Darryn Kuhl each posted a bronze finish for the Vikings. Rosen, a junior, recorded his at 138 pounds, while Haught, a sophomore, logged his at 132 and Kuhl, a freshman, achieved his at 106.

Huntington North had a trio of fourth-place finishers in sophomores Zach Nevil, Charlie Agnew and Christian Graft. Nevil was the No. 4 man at 152 pounds while Agnew and Graft produced their placements at 195 and 220 pounds, respectively.

Senior Scott Foust, at 285 pounds, junior Kaleb McVoy, at 145, and sophomore Adrien George, at 160, rounded out the Vikings’ day with fifth-place showings.

Huntington North’s junior varsity squad placed eighth in a tournament at Woodlan.

Freshman Ben Johnson claimed third at 126 pounds; junior Nate Larkin took fifth at 138; and junior Ralph Daeppen and sophomore Evan Hill each finished seventh at 160 and 170, respectively.
