Freshman Mason Shinabery pitched a shutout in the opener and the Huntington University baseball team claimed a pair of wins over host Indiana Wesleyan University on Tuesday, March 28.

Shinabery scattered five hits and struck out seven as HU, 12-7, took the opener, 9-0. Then Conner West and Tarrin Beachy limited IWU to just one run as HU took the nightcap, 2-1.

Shea Beauchamp and Dalton Combs each blasted a two-run home run to support Shinabery's mound gem in the opener. Beauchamp's long-ball, his sixth of the campaign, came in the third inning and gave HU a 3-0 advantage. Combs hit his fourth dinger of the season in the fourth, following a two-run double by Jamar Weaver.

Combs had three of the Foresters' 10 hits in the contest and scored two runs. Beauchamp, Weaver and Will Coursen-Carr each had a pair of hits.

West, a former Huntington North player, gave up seven hits but only one run in the first five innings of the nightcap before Beachy pitched one-it ball in four scoreless innings to get the win.
The Foresters trailed 1-0 after the Cougars scored in the third, but a Dylan Henricks sacrifice fly tied the contest in the sixth.

Adam Roser scored what proved to be the winning run on a wild pitch in the seventh inning.

Beachy pitched out of a  bases-loaded jam in the bottom half of the frame, then struck out two in the eighth inning and pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to wrap up the win.

The Foresters only had four hits in the nightcap. Both Adam Roser and Andy Roser logged a double, and Andy Roser and Coursen-Carr had the runs batted in.
