HU netmen win fourth straight match

The Huntington University men’s tennis team won its fourth straight match on Tuesday, Sept. 12, by beating host Taylor University, 6-3.

The Foresters, 5-2 overall and 4-1 in Crossroads League play, got twin wins from Ignacio Poncio, Rodrigo Manzo and Giovanni Martinez.

Poncio won at fist singles over Christen Jacquottet, 6-2, 6-3, after teaming with Mariano Echevarria for an 8-3 win over Alex Jung and Jake Herbruck at first doubles. Manzo and Martinez topped Andrew Danelli and Jacquottet, 8-5, at second doubles, then Manzo got a 6-2, 6-0 win over Salvador Lo Cascio at second singles and Martinez took a three-setter over Danelli at third singles, 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Luke Buttermore got the remaining win for HU at sixth singles, stopping Jung, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
