Doubles sweep vaults HU netwomen past Taylor

A sweep in doubles vaulted the Huntington University women’s tennis team past host Taylor, 7-2, on Tuesday, Sept. 12.

The victory extended the Forestsers’ win string to five and improved their season mark to 6-1, 4-1 in Crossroads League play.

Constance Golz and Meg Dolde at first singles and Anastasiia Evstifeeva and Charlotte Seth at third doubles both beat their foes 8-2. Golz and Dolde made short work of the Trojans’ Molly Fletchall and Mikayla Schultz, while Evstifeeva and Seth zipped past Annika Zeilstra and Corinne Hoffman.

Lanae Singleton and Lisa Colling at second doubles completed the pairings sweep with an 8-6 win over Taelor Grose and Courtney Clark.

In singles, Dolde at second topped Alexa Kling, 6-3, 6-4; Singleton down Grose, 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3; Seth slashed Schultz, 6-4, 6-0, at No. 4 and Colling topped Milly Pile, 6-3, 6-4, at No. 6.

Golz at No. 1 and Evstifeeva at No. 5 both lost in three sets. Golz fell to Fletchall, 4-6, 6-4, 6-7, and Evstifeeva lost to Katelyn Gray, 6-4, 4-6, 4-6.
