HU soccerwomen trounce Manchester

The Huntington University women’s soccer team trounced host Manchester University, winning 5-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 13.

The Foresters, 2-3-1, did all of their scoring in the first half. Junior Matéa Knispel found the back of the net twice for Huntington, with sophomore Bailey O’Dell assisting on both occasions. Seniors Brandi Spear and Nicole Pennington also each scored a goal for the Foresters. The visitors’ other tally came on an own goal by the Spartans.

Huntington racked up 39 shots for the game, with 14 coming on frame.

The Forester defense limited the Spartans to 11 shots, with only three coming on goal. Keeper Paige Coolman stopped all three of those shots to record the shutout.

Goalie Maddie Poe took the loss for Manchester, 0-6, yielding Huntington’s four goals, plus the own goal, while making eight stops.
