HU netwomen suffer second loss of season

The Huntington University women’s tennis team suffered its second loss of the season in eight outings as it was dropped, 1-8, by visiting Indiana Wesleyan University, the top team in the Crossroads League.

The Foresters’ lone win came at No. 6 singles, where Lisa Colling knocked off Sabrina Porter, 6-2, 6-3. The rest of the day belonged to IWU, unbeaten in league play at 6-0.

HU stands at 6-2 overall, 4-2 in Crossroads League play.

Two of the Foresters’ singles losses were in three sets. At No. 2, Meg Dolde fell to Thewuni Devaraja, 6-7, 6-4, 0-6, and at No. 3 Lanae Singleton lost to Olivia Reed, 6-4, 3-6, 2-6.

At first singles, Constance Golz fell to Lizzie Bauss, 1-6, 3-6; Charlotte Seth lost at fourth singles to Marissa Klein, 2-6, 1-6; and Anastasiia Evstifeeva at first singles lost to Becky Scurt, 0-6, 1-6.

In doubles, Golz and Dolde put up a game battle before falling, 6-8, to Alex Mella and Bauss. Singleton and Colling were 2-8 victims of Reed and Davaraja at second and Evstifeeva and Seth lost at third, 1-8, to Klein and Scurt.
