Lady Vike spikers take five-set thriller from East Noble

Maddy Robrock knocked down 22 kills and Kaitlyn Stephan handed out 62 assists as the Huntington North High School varsity volleyball team edged host East Noble, 3-2, on Thursday, Sept. 21.

The Lady Vikings, improving to 17-7 on the season, captured the first game, 25-13, but were edged in the second, 23-25. They regained the edge with a 25-15 win in the third set but East Noble clipped them 21-25 in the fourth before HNHS came up with a 15-11 triumph in the deciding set.

Stephan added to her night’s work with 19 digs, tying for the team lead in that category with Rileigh Johnson.

The Huntington North junior varsity lost 0-2 on scores of 14-25, 17-25.

Erika Vinson led the HNHS JV with five kills and Morgan Robrock added 15 assists. Maddie Laymon had 11 digs and Corynn Barton tallied three aces.

HNHS is 12-9.

The Lady Viking frosh won 2-0 on scores of 25-18, 25-14 to improve to 16-2 on the season.

Preslee Williams and Alexa Spahr each had four kills, and Spahr also had eight assists and 12 digs.

Maddison Levy added three aces and three blocks and Victoria Myers added 12 digs.
