Spear, Knispel notch seven goals as soccerwomen romp

Brandi Spear and Matea Knispel combined for seven goals in a dominating 8-0 win by the Huntington University women’s soccer team over host Bluffton University on Friday, Sept. 22.

Spear, a senior, racked up four goals while Knispel, a junior, tallied three for the Foresters, 4-4-1. Junior Tessy Geiss scored as well for Huntington, which found the back of the net seven times in the first half and once in the second.

Senior Nicole Pennington registered two assists for the Foresters. Geiss, junior Millie Adams, sophomore Bailey O’Dell and freshmen Madison Kidder and Jessica Chojnacki each recorded one assist.

The high-powered Huntington offense finished with 34 shots, 20 of which were on goal.

Junior Autumn Demott went the distance in goal for the Foresters, making one stop on her way to a shutout.

Spear wasted no time putting HU on top with a goal at the 4:01 mark, then Knispel notched her first just 38 seconds later. Spear got her second and third goals just 48 seconds apart, tallying No. 2 at the 15:11 mark and No. 3 at the 15:59 juncture. Knispel then got her hat trick with goals at the 27:22 mark and the 38:54 mark.

Geiss closed out the first half scoring at the 40:21 mark and Spear got her fourth goal just 1:43 into the second half.
