HU netwomen get second sweep of day against IU-K

The Huntington University women’s tennis team recorded its seventh sweep of the year with a 9-0 blanking of visiting Indiana University Kokomo on Saturday, Sept. 23.

The Foresters, 9-2, recorded shutouts in three of the six singles matches. Sophomore Meg Dolde was a 6-0, 6-0 winner over Brianne Abrahamson in the second contest. Freshman Charlotte Seth won by that same score versus Katie Hart in the fourth tilt and Anastasiia Evstifeeva followed suit in the sixth match against Kelsey Jones.

Senior Constanze Golz and freshman Lisa Colling were each one game away from perfection in their wins. Golz topped Adrianna Ward in the first contest, 6-0, 6-1, while Colling dispatched Katie McCoy in the second tilt, 6-1, 6-0.

Freshman Lanae Singleton rounded out the team’s solo victories with a 6-2, 7-5 triumph over Kelsey Kohlmorgen at the No. 3 spot.

In doubles play, Golz and Dolde took the top match versus Ward and McCoy, 8-1. Singleton and Colling were 8-3 winners over Abrahamson and Kohlmorgen in the second contest while Evstifeeva and senior Erin Van Kampen logged an 8-4 victory versus Jones and Hart in the third tilt.
