The Huntington University women’s soccer team came up just short of playing spoiler to Indiana Wesleyan’s homecoming as it took IWU to double overtime before falling 2-1, on Saturday, Oct. 7.
Matea Knispel tied the game at 1-all for HU with a bank-shot goal 10 minutes into the second half, and neither team scored again until IWU got the gamer in the second OT.
Knispel scored her team-leading 13th goal of the season on a free kick which struck the crossbar and then bounced off the IWU goalie and into the net.
HU is 6-5-1 overall and 2-1 in the Crossroads League.
IWU, 8-1-2 overall, got the first goal of the game just before halftime from Karen DeYoung. Tia Sanford got the game-winner.
Forester goalie Paige Coolman had eight saves on the afternoon.
