HU women dispatch Aquinas College

The Huntington University women’s basketball team dispatched visiting Aquinas College, 54-43, on the second day of the Crossroads League/WHAC Classic on Saturday, Nov. 4.

The Foresters led 13-8 after the first quarter and 25-21 at the half. Coach Lori Culler’s squad upped its advantage to 40-32 by the end of three quarters before nudging it into double digits by the end buzzer.

Huntington, 2-1, got 11 points from sophomore Sarah Fryman and 10 points from junior Casey Morton.

The Foresters shot 22 of 60 from the field for 36.7 percent and 5 of 5 at the free throw line.

Junior Brooke Saylor and senior Hailey Krewald were active on the boards, collecting 12 and 10 rebounds, respectively, to give Huntington a 41-40 edge in that department.

Freshman Sam Hammel dished out five assists.

Aquinas, 2-2, was paced by Momo Neal, who scored 14 points.

The Saints converted 11 of 50 field goal attempts for 22 percent and 18 of 23 freebie tries for 78.3 percent.
