HU spikers' season ends with loss to Grace in CL Tourney

The season came to an end for the Huntington University volleyball team with a 1-3 loss to host Grace College in the quarterfinals of the Crossroads League Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 4.

With the loss, the sixth-seeded Foresters finish the season 13-21, 7-11 in league play. The Lancers, seeded third, improve to 21-14, 12-6 in league action, and will face second-seeded Indiana Wesleyan University in the tournament semifinals on Nov. 8.

After gutting out a 27-25 win in the opening set, Huntington fell in the following three frames by scores of 18-25, 20-25, 15-25.

Freshman Brandy Michie and senior Josie Beaver paced the Forester offense with 12 and 10 kills, respectively. Freshman Jenna Tacosik backed them up with 38 assists.

Defensively, Huntington got 21 digs from senior Mikayla Carpenter.

Grace got 21 kills from Sierra Smith and 56 assists from Alexa Hill, a former standout at Huntington North High School. The Lancer defense got 17 digs from Sara Miller.
