HU softball team drops pair to Madonna

The Huntington University softball team lost to visiting Madonna 1-0, 6-3, in a doubleheader on Thursday, April 1.

n game one, Molly Long took the loss for the Foresters despite allowing just five hits and no earned runs, all while pitching seven strikeouts.

Brita Kuiper had HU's only hit.

Madonna finally lit up the scoreboard in the third inning after two singles and an HU error. After the Crusader run, each team would only have four hits for the rest of the game.

The second game was more combative, but HU still lost in the end.

Stacie Rawnsley took the loss for Huntington, giving up six runs on eight hits and three walks and having three strikeouts.
Katie Bowers and Brandi Gower each had two hits, and Kuiper had a home run and two RBI.

Huntington was down 3-0 until the third inning, when Kuiper had her homer to score both herself and Bowers. But Madonna was not finished, and would score three more runs to Huntington's one to take the win.

HU fell to 7-11 overall.
