Fourth quarter burst pushes Norwell past Lady Vikes

A big fourth quarter by host Norwell was too much for the Huntington North High School girls’ varsity basketball team could handle as the Lady Vikings fell, 60-45, on Friday, Dec. 1.

The Lady Vikings, 3-5, led at halftime, 24-22, and trailed by only one point at 39-38 heading into the final frame before Norwell, 4-2, ripped off a 21-7 closing frame to win going away.

Riley Johnson led HNHS with a game-high 18 points and six rebounds. Hollyn Anderson added eight points and seven assists.

The Lady Vikes hit 16 of 46 field goal attempts for 34.8 percent and added a 9 of 12 effort at the free-throw line for 75 percent.

Logan Rowles led Norwell with 14 points. Breann Barger added 12 points.

Norwell hit 21 of 45 field goal tries for 46.7 percent and added 15 of 22 shooting from the free-throw line for 68 percent.

Kyler Hoopingarner scored 15 points to lead the Huntington North junior varsity to a 36-34 win over Norwell.

The Lady Vikes’ JV is 4-4 on the season.
