Robrock, R. Johnson lead Lady Vikes back to .500

Maddy Robrock scored 18 points and Rileigh Johnson notched 16 to lead the Huntington North High School girls’ varsity basketball team past visiting Leo, 48-41, on Saturday, Dec. 16.

Climbing back to .500 at 6-6, the Lady Vikings had only four players score in the contest, with Larissa Johnson adding eight points and Karmen Koch putting in the remaining six.

HNHS got off to a 14-10 lead after the first eight minutes and pushed the advantage to 31-23 by halftime. The lady Vikes led 38-32 heading into the final frame.

The Lady Vikes hit 22 of 39 shots from the field for 56.4 percent, including 3 of 5 from three-point range. They only went to the free-throw line twice, hitting one.

Leo also shot more than 50 percent for the contest, connecting on 15 of 29 field goal attempts for 5l.7 percent. They hit 11 of 13 free throws for 91.7 percent to keep the game as close as it was.

Robrock led the Lady Vikes on the boards with seven rebounds. Koch had five assists and Rileigh Johnson added four. Riliegh Johnson and Robrock each had three steals.

Meg McDonald pumped in 15 points to lead the Lady Vikes’ junior varsity team to a 34-29 win over Leo.

Grace Gross added eight points for HNHS, 7-5 on the season.
