Johnson girls too much for CC as Lady Vikes win

The Johnson girls -- Rileigh and Larissa -- were too much for visiting Columbia City as they led the Huntington North High School girls’ varsity basketball team to a 53-44 win on Saturday, Jan. 13.

The pair of seniors combined for 28 points and 17 rebounds as the Lady Vikings improved to 11-7 on the season, 4-1 in the NE8. Rileigh Johnson had a game-high 15 points and six rebounds, and Larissa Johnson had 13 points and a team-high 11 rebounds.

Maddy Robrock added nine points and six rebounds to the HNHS win, and Karmen Koch contributed eight points and three assists. Hollyn Anderson had a team-high four assists.

The Lady Vikes hit 16 of 32 field goal tries for a solid 50 percent and added 17 made free throws in 25 attempts for 68 percent.

The visitors, 7-14, were led by Carly Mabie with 14 points and Grace Schrader with 11 points.

The Lady Eagles hit 16 of 44 shots from the field for 36.4 percent and added 9 of 14 at the free-throw line for 64.3 percent.
