Norwell stops HNHS swimgirls

The Huntington North High School girls’ swim team got wins from Laney Shaw and Allie Aschliman, but was unable to beat host Norwell, losing 119-57.

Shaw topped the 200-yard individual medley while Aschliman took the 500-yard freestyle. Shaw posted a time of 2:40.27 while Aschliman clocked in at 6:05.23.

Shaw also showed well in the 100-yard breaststroke, claiming second. The sophomore touched the wall in 1:25.03.

Aschliman added a bronze finish in the 50-yard freestyle to her accomplishments on the evening. The sophomore came home in :28.97.
 
Aschliman and Shaw both swam legs in the 200-yard medley and 200-yard freestyle relays for Huntington North, which saw the visitors post a pair of silver finishes. Aschliman and Shaw teamed up with junior Macy Lange and sophomore Alayna Stroup in the medley, finishing in 2:13.39. The two, along with Lange, then formed a quartet with sophomore Alyssa Brinkman in the freestyle, stopping the timer in 1:56.59.

Individually, Lange put forth a pair of bronze efforts in the 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke. She swam the freestyle in 2:25.89 and backstroke in 1:13.10.

Brinkman and Stroup rounded out the Lady Vikings’ top-three efforts in individual races with a pair of third-place showings. Brinkman achieved her bronze in the 100-yard butterfly, touching the wall in 1:20.80, while Stroup notched her third in the 200-yard individual medley, clocking in at 2:45.41.
