Bates helps lead Lady Vikes gymnasts over EN

Led by all-around champion Brianna Bates, the Huntington North High School varsity gymnastics team dispatched visiting East Noble, 104.750-100.275, on Thursday, Jan. 18.

Bates posted a top-three finish in each event to compile a winning register of 35.200 in the all-around. The senior’s best finish came in the floor exercise, where she scored a 9.450 to capture first place. She earned runner-up honors on vault and the uneven bars, tallying an 8.900 in the former event and an 8.150 in the latter. A bronze showing on balance beam, where she totaled an 8.700, rounded out her night.

Laora Pampaloni and Danielle Korporal topped vault and balance beam, respectively, for the Lady Vikings. Pampaloni achieved a 9.100 on vault while Korporal earned a 9.200 on beam.

Sarah Malone put forth a silver effort on beam, scoring an 8.950. Aleah Eckert grabbed second place on floor with a 9.300 while Pampaloni claimed third with a 9.175, rounding out Huntington North’s top-three finishes.
