Wins in three events carry Lady Vike gymnasts past Jay County

Wins in three of the four events carried the Huntington North High School gymnastics team to  a 102.55-96.500 win over visiting Jay County on Thursday, Jan. 25.

Laora Pampaloni led a three-place sweep for he Lady Vikings in the vault, while Morgan Reimer won the balance beam and Aleah Eckert took the floor exercise.

Pampaloni tallied an 8.850 for her win, with teammates Brianna Bates and Eckert taking second and third, respectively, with scores of 8.650 and 8.450.

Reimer scored a 9.050 to win the beam, with teammate Danielle Korporal placing second with a score of 8.350.

Eckert had the highest score of the night for HNHS with her winning tally of 9.200 on floor. Korporal again took second, with a 9.00

The only event the Lady Vikings didn’t win individually, the uneven parallel bars, saw Bates place second with an 8.150 and Korporal place third with an 8.100.

Bates placed second in the all-around with a tally of 33.075. Jay County’s Karlie Bullard was the overall champion on he night with a total of 33.475.

Lady Viking Alea Eckert placed third in all-around with a 32.825.

The Lady Vikings won all four disciplines as a team.
