HU women suffer worst loss of season

The Huntington University women’s basketball team suffered its worst loss of the season to host Taylor University, 69-51, on Wednesday, Feb. 14.

The Foresters, 16-12 overall, 9-8 in the Crossroads League, hit just 17 of 51 shots from the field for 33.3 percent on the evening. The fell behind after one quarter of play, 15-13, and were down at halftime, 33-23. They trailed the 16th-rnaked Trojans after three quarters, 51-35.

Sarah Fryman led HU with 12 points. Hailey Krewald and Maddie Richer each tallied 11 points and Sam Hammel knocked down 10.

Taylor, 20-9 on the season and 13-4 in the Crossroads League, got 23 points from Kendall Bradbury. Cassidy Wyse scored 12 points and Aubrey Wright added 11.

The Trojans shot 23 of 50 shots from the field for 46 percent. They added 14 of 16 from the free-throw line for 87.5 percent.

Krewald had eight rebounds and Brooke Saylor had seven to lead HU to a 37-26 advntage on the boards.

Krewald had four assists and Hammel added three steals.
