Wawasee tops HNHS gymnastics team

Visiting Wawasee topped the Huntington North High School gymnastics team, 105.100-104.200, on Thursday, Feb. 15.

The teams split the four events, but the visitors piled up enough points in the events they won to take the meet.

Led by Laora Pampaloni and Aleah Eckert, HNHS won the vault and the floor exercise. Pampaloni was the individual winner in the vault, with a score of 9.1 as HNHS won, 26.600-26.475. Eckert was champ on the floor, with a score of 9.350 as HNHS had an advantage of 27.775-26.250.

Wawasee won the uneven parallel bars, 25.600-23.950, and the balance beam, 26.775-25.875, to win the meet.

Danielle Korporal had a pair of runner-up finishes on the night, taking second on the beam, with a score of 8.950, and finishing second in all-around, with a total of 35.175.

Korporal was third on the bars with an 8.575, fourth on the vault with an 8.800 and scored an 8.850 on the floor.

Pamapoloni was third in all-around with a score of 34.750.

Reagan Atwood won the beam for Wawasee with a score of 9.350 and took all-around with a total of 36.225.

Jada Parzygnot won the bars with a score of 9.025.
