IWU ends HU men's season in CL Tournament

The Huntington University men’s basketball team’s season ended Saturday, Feb. 24, with a 90-77 loss to host Indiana Wesleyan in semifinal action at the Crossroads League Tournament.

Finishing at 14-18 on the season, the Foresters trailed by six points at 77-71 when Zac Owens hit a longball at the 5:27 mark, but then HU apparently ran out of gas, tallying just six more points the rest of the way.

IWU, ranked No. 5 nationally and standing at 25-7 on the season, was led by freshman Kyle Mangas with 26 points. Jacob Johnson tallied 17 points, Evan Maxwell added 15 points and Joel Okafor posted 10.

The Foresters hit 32 of 66 shots from the field for 48.5 percent but hurt themselves with a 4 of 10 effort at the charity stripe for 40 percent. IWU hit 36 of 77 shots from the field for 46.8 percent and added 9 of 14 at the stripe for 64.3 percent.
