HNHS tennis girls flattten Elmhurst to go 2-0

The Huntington North High School girls' varsity tennis team flattened host Elmhurst 5-0 on Thursday, April 15.

In singles, Taryn Wuensch defeated Carrie Buschy at No. 1, 6-3, 6-7 (7-6), 6-0 to open the match for the Lady Vikings, now 2-0 on the season. Abby Berry won over Mana Surker 6-1, 6-4 at No. 2 and at No. 3, Felecia Alderman defeated Rianna Jacobs 6-2, 6-2.

At No. 1 doubles, Kourtney Brubaker and Jericho Parrett beat Kelsey Church and Morgan Banks 6-1, 6-0. Stephanie Goebbert and Brittany Stephan defeated their opponents 6-1, 3-6, 6-3 at No. 2.

HNHS's junior varsity squad, also 2-0 on the season, defeated Elmhurst 4-2.

Laurisa Richard won 8-0 at No. 2 singles and Haley Richman defeated her opponent 8-3 at No. 3. Anne Hacker lost her match 4-8 at No. 1.

In doubles, Macy Phillips and Laura Cherry won their match 8-1, while Kari Bard and Haley Bruemieve took their match 8-3. Natashe Matthew and Kayla Floyd lost their match 6-8.
