Mason Shinabery threw a one-hit shutout in the first game of a doubleheader sweep by the Huntington University baseball team over host University of Saint Francis on Monday, April 9.

Shinaberry, a sophomore, struck out 10 batters and walked just one to handcuff USF in a 5-0 HU win, then the HU bats accounted for 14 hits in the nightcap on the way to an 11-2 victory.

HU improved to 11-12 overall and is 9-0 in the Crossroads League.

HU gave Shinabery all the runs he needed in a three-run first frame. They added two more runs in the sixth.

Jamar Weaver had three hits and two runs batted in to lead HU, and Donovan Clark added two hits.

HU pushed across seven runs in the first four innings of the nightcap, and after USF scored its only two runs of the day in the eighth inning, HU put up a four-spot to ensure the win.

Adam Roser had three hits and Daniel Lichty had two hits and three ribbies, while Tyler Zimske and Adrian Perez each chipped in two hits and two RBI.

Connor West went the first four innings and got the win on the mound, yielding just one hit with eight strikeouts and three walks. Colton Punches went the next four frames, giving up two unearned runs on five hits, with one strikeout, and Alex McCutcheon threw a scoreless ninth inning.
