Lady Vike netgirls to 5-0

The Huntington North High School varsity tennis team ran its record to 5-0 with a 4-1 win over visiting Fort Wayne Bishop Dwenger on Thursday, April 19.

The Lady Vikings swept the singles matches, led by first singles player Jessica Henline and second singles player Kassidy Thompson both winning easily in straight sets. Henline topped Cassidy Klinker, 6-4, 6-0, and Thompson downed Laura Brust, 6-1, 6-4.

Tarah Zumbrun at third singles pulled out a three-setter against Eden Carrison-Kitch, 6-4, 0-6, 6-3.

The Lady Vikings also got a win at first doubles as Macy Wohlford and Jule Nogaj downed Megan Lopez and Savanna Henry, 6-3, 6-3.

The only loss of the day came at second doubles as the team of Braxtyn Maroney and Leann Ringenberg fell to Olivia Wright and Mercedes Gonzalez, 2-6, 4-6.

The Lady Vikes’ junior varsity squad lost 4-8 to fall to 4-1 on the season.

Emma Bickel got the lone singles win for HNHS. Doubles wins came from Crosley Stanley and Maisy Kesler, Mary Young and Sydney Smekens and Emily Crist and Gabby Haneline.
