HU trackmen seventh at Little State

Freshman sprinter Peyton Depriest earned points in three events to lead the Huntington University men’s track to seventh place out of 14 teams at the 113th annual Little State Championships hosted by Indiana Wesleyan this past weekend.

Depriest took fourth place in the 400-meter dash by clocking in at :49.2, and he also took fifth in the 200-meter dash, in :22.79. He teamed with Heath Atkins, Bradey Gerke and Avniel Barrow to claim second in the 400-meter relay, in a school-record :42.58.

Barrow broke the 11-second barrier in the 100-meter dash to move into second in the HU record books with a :10.95.

Brooks Gerke placed second in pole vault with a height of 17-7.25, and Bradey Gerke took third in triple jump at 41-00.25. Adam Woods took sixth in javelin at 145-4 and Luke Fillers finishing in a tie for seventh in pole vault at 13-1.5

The Foresters notched 44.75 points. The University of Indianapolis claimed the title with 141.25 points.
