HU men ride wins in sprint to third at Lancer Invite

The Huntington University men’s track team rode three wins in sprints to third place on Saturday, April 28, at the Grace College Lancer Invitational.

HU got wins from sophomore Avniel Barrow in the 100-meter dash, the 400-meter relay team and the 1,600-meter relay team on the way to scoring 80 points.

Barrow set a new personal best in the 100 with his clocking of :10.85. He along with Peyton Depriest, Heath Atkins and Bradey Gerke won the shorter relay in :43.57, and Depriest and Gerke along with CJ Robertson and Codi Wiersema took the longer relay in 3:35.24.

DePriest added second for HU in the 200-meter dash in :22.43, and Atkins took fourth in the race at :22.93. Atkins also added a runner-up spot in the long jump at 6.06 meters.

Brooks Gerke and Luke Fillers added second and third, respectively, in pole vault with heights of 4.25 meters and 3.95 meters. Adrien Gentrie added third place points in the 1,500-meter run with a clocking of 4:15.53.

Grace took the men’s title with 176 points. Bethel was second among the six teams with 165.5 points.
