Lady Vike netgirls to 9-1 win win over Manchester

The Huntington North High School girls’ varsity tennis team defeated host Manchester, 3-2, on Wednesday, May 2.

The Lady Vikings, 9-1, earned two wins in singles action. In the No. 1 match, junior Jessica Henline dispatched Kelsey Eichenauer by a score of 6-2, 6-0. The second contest saw senior Kassidy Thompson take on Halle Briner and post a 6-4, 6-4 win.

Senior Tarah Zumbrun fell to Lydia Little in the third tilt, 0-6, 4-6.

Huntington North’s junior duo at first doubles, Macy Wohlford and Jule Nogaj, rounded out the team’s victories with a 6-4, 6-0 triumph over Eva Bazzoni and Kendra Auler.

The Lady Vikes’ senior twosome at second doubles, Braxtyn Maroney and Leann Ringenberg, lost to Lauren Metzger and Rebekah Pyle, 2-6, 2-6, to round out the day.

Huntington North lost the junior varsity contest, 3-8, to fall to 6-4 on the season.

Posting wins for Coach Blake Childs were sophomore Mary Young and the duos of junior Emily Bokel and sophomore Emily Daas and freshmen Naomi Richison and Mandi Lippe.
