Leo snaps HNHS netgirls' win string at 6

The Huntington North High School girls’ varsity tennis team had its six-match win string broken Tuesday, May 8, with a 2-3 loss to visiting Leo.

The Lady Vikings, 11-2 on the season, got wins at first and second singles. Jessica Henline at first topped Emili Runsestad in three sets, 6-3, 1-6, 6-2, and Kassidy Thompson at second singles beat Marisa Eberle, 6-4, 6-3.

At third singles, Tarah Zumbrun lost to Alexis Christlieb, 6-7, 5-7.

The Lady Vikes No. 1 doubles team of Macy Wohlford and Jule Nogaj lost a three-setter to Cassidy Boyce and Quinn Stanchin, 4-6, 6-4, 3-6. The second doubles team of Braxtyn Maroney and Leann Ringenberg fell to Taylor Stahl and Audrey Keele, 3-6, 5-7.

The Huntington North junior varsity won, 4-1, to improve to 9-4 on the season.

Crosley Stanley won her singles match, and the other wins came from the doubles teams of Emily Bokel and Emily Daas, Sydney Smekens and Maisly Kesler and Gabby Haneline and Julia Crist.
