Homestead edges Lady Vike netgirls

The Huntington North High School girls’ varsity tennis team got edged by visiting Homestead, 2-3, on Wednesday, May 9.

The Lady Vikings, 11-3, picked up both of their wins in singles play. In the first match, junior Jessica Henline dispatched Jenna Lewis, 6-1, 6-3, while senior Tarah Zumbrun topped Morgan Render in the third tilt, 6-2, 6-3.

At second singles, senior Kassidy Thompson fell to Olivia Creech, 4-6, 3-6.

In doubles action, the junior duo of Macy Wohlford and Jule Nogaj suffered a 2-6, 3-6 setback to Payton Krahn and Natalie Steingrass in the No. 1 match. In the second contest, seniors Braxtyn Maroney and Leann Ringenberg lost to Delaney Lewis and Pravi Jain, 4-6, 3-6, to round out the day.

Huntington North’s junior varsity team also lost, 1-10, to fall to 9-5.

The Lady Vikings’ lone win was posted by senior Gabi Haneline and junior Julia Crist in doubles play.
