Lady Vike JV spikers claim Southwood invitational crown

The Huntington North High School junior varsity volleyball team won all four of its matches to claim the title at the South Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 8.

The Lady Vikes edged past Floyd Central, 2-1, in the title match on scores of 23-25, 25-16, 15-13.

The Lady Vikes earlier topped Elkhart, 2-1, New Castle, 2-0 and Fort Wayne Northrop 2-1.

Lauren Trickle led the HNHS offense in the championship with five attacks, and Preslee Williams passed out 14 assists. Corynn Barton had six aces.

Victoria Myers had 14 digs.

The Lady Vikes slid past Elkhart, 22-25, 25-22, 15-13.

Williams showed her versatility with eight attacks and as many assists, while Alexa Spahr added eighth assists and eight digs.

Stephanie Atkins and Trickle each had two blocks.

Maddy Levy had three aces.

Huntington North took down New Castle, 25-24, 25-17.

Levy and Trickle led in attacks with three, and Spahr had five assists. Spahr also had two digs, as did Barton.

Barton and Williams added three aces apiece.

Huntington North defeated Northrop, 25-8, 24-25, 15-13.

Trickle had five attacks and six aces to key the offense. Spahr added six assists and six digs.
