Solid running helps Viking harriers finish fifth at Wildcat Invitational

Solid running by all five scorers had the Huntington North High school boys’ varsity cross country team placing fifth out of 14 teams at the Wildcat Invitational at Indiana Wesleyan University on Saturday, Sept. 8.

Brock Spahr led the Vikings with 14th place among scoring runners with a time of 17:55, followed by Drew Davis in 20th place with a clocking of 18:03. Isaiah Clampitt placed 34th in 18:19, Jacob Wust was 38th in 18:28 and Alex Bishop was 46th in 18:41.

Jarid Miller also got a clocking of 18:41 for 47th place and Clayton Johnson rounded out the top seven for HNHS by placing 82nd in 20:22.

The Vikings finished with a score of 152. Valparaiso won the race with a score of 70, edging Hamilton Southeastern by a single point. Noblesville was third with 86 points, and Zionsville was fourth with 128 points.

Brenna Butche, a senior from Mississinewa, dominated the individual race, winning by almost 25 seconds with a time of 16:56.7.
