Huntington Area Recreational Trails Association will have its second HARTA-Ween Zombie Dash on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 5 p.m. at Yeoman Park.

The race is open to all ages. Participants may choose a 5K or the newly added 10K route, and a 1-mile loop is available for non-competitive participants.

The goal is to complete the 10K, 5K, or 1-mile loop with as many lives left on your life belt as possible. Zombies will appear on the trail and will try to snatch away your lives. Participants may choose to walk or run the race and may opt out of the zombie-snatching.

Food and drinks will be available for purchase by the Huntington Optimist Club and Bowls Frozen Dessert, which is open to the public.

Check-in is at 5 p.m. and the race begins at 6 p.m., rain or shine.

Each paid entry receives a T-shirt, finisher medal and a swag bag. The top male and female finishers for the 10K and 5K event will receive additional awards.

Halloween costumes are encouraged for race participants as well. Awards will also be given to event volunteers for best dressed zombies, decorated pumpkin and Halloween scene.

Proceeds and contributions from the event will go toward supporting the development and maintenance of trails in Huntington County.
