HU frosh has big weekend at ITA Midwest Regional Championship

Huntington University freshman Morgan Fitzpatrick made it to the final four of a 64-player field at the 2018 ITA Midwest Regional Championship hosted by Indiana Wesleyan University Sept. 13 to 15.

Fitzpatrick was the 11th seed going into the tourney and won her first four matches to get to the final four, where she lost to eventual champion Lizzie Bauss of IWU, 1-6, 1-6.

Fitzpatrick started off the tourney with a 6-1, 6-1 win over IWU’s Rachel Baker, then beat Carrie Copeland of Grace, 6-3, 6-4. She next took down Vero Jimenez of Indiana Tech, 2-6, 6-1, 10-3 before knocking off fourth seed Maddie Benmisderfer of IWU, 6-3, 7-5.

The HU doubles team of Lanae Singleton and Lisa Colling also made a final four appearance. The duo beat teams from Taylor and IWU before knocking out their HU teammates Fitzpatrick and Meg Dolde.
