HU baseball team scores 11 in one inning on way to doubleheader sweep over Rochester

Scoring 11 runs in the second inning of game one, the Huntington University baseball team mowed down visiting Rochester College twice, 13-2 and 4-3, on Tuesday, April 27.

Ty Mills had the first game win for the Foresters, allowing one run on two walks with one strikeout.

Adam Christner had five RBI while Eric Schultz had three hits and three RBI.

Huntington started off the first match with a run in the bottom of the first to take the lead. But the second inning proved to be doomsday for Rochester, as HU had seven hits and took advantage of two errors and three walks to top off at 11 runs.

The second match was much tougher for HU as Rochester opened the scoring with a run in the second inning. The Foresters responded with a run in the same inning, but Rochester matched it in the third to take the game to 2-1.

Huntington notched three runs in the fifth after a wild pitch scored Jordon Klopfenstein and Ryan Shell hit a double to bring in two more to secure the win.

Tyler Palmer had the "W" for Huntington, allowing three runs, two earned, on three hits and four walks while striking out one in five innings.

Josh Lanphier and Eric Harpring each had two hits.
