Huntington University will face the No. 8 at-large team, Jamestown, from North Dakota, on Thursday, March 12, at 3:30 p.m. in its opening round game of the NAIA Division II Women's Basketball Tournament in Sioux City, IA.

The HU women, 24-6, drew the fourth seed in their bracket, while Jamestown, 20-9, drew the No. 5 seed.

HU earned its ticket to the tourney by winning the Mid-Central College Conference Tournament last Monday night, March 2. The Forester women defeated Taylor, 65-60.

Should HU win, they would face the winner between Davenport, of Michigan, the top seed in the bracket, and eighth seed Indiana Southeast, on Friday, March 13, at 3:30 p.m.

Davenport is 29-2 and Indiana Southeast is 19-8.

In addition to Huntington, three other MCC schools also made the tourney, a new record for the conference. Joining HU will be Bethel, 22-8, the fifth at-large team; Indiana Wesleyan, 23-9, the seventh at-large team; and Taylor, 21-11, the 10th at-large squad.

This is the second trip to the national tournament for Huntington, which is 1-1 all-time.

Other number one seeds in the tourney include the only two unbeaten teams in Division II, 33-0 Morningside, of Iowa, and 30-0 Shawnee State, of Ohio. The fourth top seed is 26-5 College of the Ozarks, of Missouri.

Defending national champion Northwestern, of Iowa, will try to become just the fourth school to win back-to-back crowns. They are seeded second in their bracket, which inludes HU, and come into the tourney with a 23-8 mark.

The title game is scheduled for Tuesday, March 17, at 7 p.m.
