Robrock eruption earns Lady Vikes first win of season

Maddy Robrock erupted for a career-high 32 points and the Huntington North High School girls’ varsity basketball team steamrolled visiting Fort Wayne North Side, 55-31.

Robrock, a senior, went 13 for 19 from the field and a perfect 6 for 6 at the free throw line to post her impressive point total. The forward/center also collected 15 rebounds to record her first double-double of the season.

The Lady Vikings, 1-1, took a 15-8 lead in the first quarter, which they expanded to 28-15 by the half. Coach Heidi Lawson’s squad increased its cushion to 43-22 by the end three quarters then outscored the visitors 12-9 in the final frame to cap the lopsided win.

Freshman Leah Campbell supplemented Robrock’s big night with eight points and six assists. Reece Colclesser added three assists and three steals to the HNHS stat line.

Huntington North converted 21 of 52 field goal attempts for 40.4 percent and 10 of 11 free throws tries for 90.9 percent.

North Side, 2-1, went 10 for 48 from the field for 20.8 percent and 8 for 12 at the charity stripe for 66.7 percent.

Makyla Wilchar led North with eight points.

The Lady Vikings also won the junior varsity contest in dominating fashion, 49-7.

Huntington North, 2-0, was led by Addison Dennis and Grace Sell, who scored 12 and 10 points, respectively.
