RMS 8th-grade boys fall to Dekalb in tourney title game

The Riverview Middle School eighth grade boy’s basketball team lost to DeKalb, 37-32 in the championship game of the DeKalb Tournament on Saturday, Jan. 12.

The Raiders had advanced to the title match by defeating East Noble, 33-30, earlier in the day.

Riverview took a 7-5 lead on Dekalb in the first quarter of the championship match, but DeKalb held a 15-11 lead at the half. The hosts expanded their margin to 29-21 after three quarters.

Brayden Voght led Riverview with nine points. Colt Hacker, Lawson Doyle and Caden Husband each tallied six.

Riverview trailed in the first game against East Noble, 9-6, after the first quarter. The Raiders held a 14-13 lead at halftime but East Noble was ahead, 24-23, at three-quarter stop.

Colt Hacker had 12 points, Lawson Doyle had 11 and Caden Husband added 10 points for the Raiders.
