Shaw gets only HNHS win as Lady Vike swimmers lose to Norwell

Laney Shaw picked up the lone win of the meet for the Huntington North High School girls’ swim team in a 116-51 defeat to visiting Norwell on Tuesday, Jan. 15.

Shaw, a junior, led a 1-3 finish by HNHS in the 100-yard butterfly, winning the race in 1:14.54, with teammate Macy Lange third in 1:21.77.

Shaw was also involved in the only other double-scoring event for the Lady Vikings, taking second in the 100-yard backstroke, in 1:15.04, while teammate Morgan Cogar took third in 1:20.04.

Allie Aschliman had a pair of second place finishes for HNHS, doing so in the 200-yard individual medley, in 2:29.66, and the 100-yard freestyle, in 1:02.27.

Lange placed second in the 100-yard breaststroke, touching the wall in 1:22.97.

Bekah Brunner picked up a pair of third place finishes. She got her first one in the 200-yard freestyle, in 2:29.24, and came back to get the same placing in the 500-yard freestyle, in 6:39.91.

The Lady Vikes also got second in the 200-yard medley relay and the 200-yard freestyle relay. The medley relay team clocked in at 2:11.07 and was made up of Alyssa Brinkman, Lange, Aschliman and Shaw. The same quartet also swam the free relay, and clocked in at 1:56.93.
