Visiting Bellmont was simply too much for the Huntington North High School girls’ basketball team as it beat the Lady Vikes, 58-36, on Friday, Jan. 18.
Bellmont, 18-2, led 18-13 at the first quarter break and never looked back. The halftime lead was 28-21 and the visitors led 45-29 after three quarters.
The Lady Vikes, 6-13 overall and 3-3 in the Northeast 8 Conference, were paced by Maddy Robrock with 17 points and six rebounds. Reece Colclesser added seven points and five assists.
Bellmont was led by Grace Hunter with a game-high 28 points.
The Lady Vikes hit 16 of 38 shots from the field for 41 percent on the night and added 4 of 7 from the foul stripe for 57.1 percent. Bellmont gunned in 21 of 43 shots from the field for 48.8 percent and 12 of 18 from the free-throw line for 66.7 percent. Bellmont was crushingly effective inside the arc as it hit 17 of 26 shots for 65.4 percent.
The Lady Vikes junior varsity squad lost, 38-30, to fall to 11-7 on the season.
Grace Sell led HNHS with 10 points.
